Rogano since 1935
In 1935, as the great Cunard liner 'Queen Mary' took shape on the Clyde, a restaurant was refitted in the same Art Deco style - and a Glasgow legend was born.
With its unique 1930s ambience, Rogano is the oldest surviving restaurant in Glasgow. For almost seventy years its chefs have dedicated themselves to the delicate art of cooking and serving the finest fish and seafood in the world – fish and seafood from Scottish waters.
Lunch at Rogano is a Glasgow institution. But for all its traditions, its inimitable style, and its loyal clientele, Rogano is a friendly place, with a special welcome for the traveller –
it is, of course, perfectly situated for the city’s most elegant shops and many of its leading cultural venues.
As the hour advances, the mood changes. The city suits disperse, the young and fashionable assemble in the Bar, and Glasgow’s lovers of the fine food and wine gather to dine, as they have done for over sixty years.
Restaurant and Oyster Bar
Whilst food fashions have come and gone, Rogano has always stood for the unsurpassed luxury and perfect elegance of the finest fish and seafood – salmon, langoustines, scallops, lobster, halibut and oysters – faultlessly prepared and presented in classic style: the
Restaurant wine list reflects this tradition, being heavily biased towards white wines from French vineyards.
There is a separate after-theatre supper menu and a set lunch menu is available. The private dining room can be booked for business entertaining and family occasions.
Those whose schedules do not permit formal dining, or who wish to eat outwith Restaurant hours, may now choose from a selection of seafood and sandwiches served in the Bar area all day.
Café Rogano
With its fresh and original menu and long opening hours, Café Rogano is ideal for catching up with lunch after a shopping trip, meeting friends, or for a pre-theatre dinner or after-theatre supper.
The choices always include several lighter dishes and vegetarian options. The wine list has been chosen principally from the Americas, South Africa and the Antipodes.
Its relaxed atmosphere, and unobtrusive but attentive service, makes Café Rogano an excellent introduction to fine dining; and the imaginative menu is appealing to children who are welcome.
Café Rogano is open from noon with last orders at 11pm every night.
